It's been several years since I've been here, probably more than just several. I came here not that long after they opened. Bulldog has definitely upped its game. Sure, if you compare it to Three Floyds, well there's no comparison as far as absolute beer quality is concerned. But how many breweries would fare well in that comparison? Nonetheless, it's still good, solid beer. The Baltic Porter was especially fine and the lager, a nice surprise. Great selection of dishes, and the prices are very reasonable (especially compared to 3F). Don't be a snob. Check out Bulldog.

Place is cool on the inside it's nestled in the middle of downtown whiting . A great little town. However the beer is just not good i had multiple pints they were weak at best. Go for the food and then travel the 10 minutes to 18th street in Hammond for quality beer. Or the 20 minutes to three floyds.

Good selection of beers for all types of beer drinkers. Everything from a light to a nice porter. Nothing over the top. Nice place, friendly, helpful staff that knows their beer. Specials on Mondays for growler refills. Situated right in the middle of a small downtown shopping area.

It was a little crowded since it was Perogi Fest, but the wait for a growler wasn't very long, 5 minutes tops. Bartender was very helpful. Only problem(A BIG one) was I ordered a growler of IPA to go. When I got home the beer was flat and un-hoppy. Hopefully this is a one time occurrence. I will return next weekend and hopefully update my opinion..

This is sort of a premature review. Stopped in for a couple after hearing they were FINALLY serving their own beers. The room and bar area is really nice, very small though. Pretty well laid out and clean as heck.

Service was ok, because I usually sit at the bar at brewpubs. The bartender was friendly and offered samples, but we lost him when it got a little busier.

I gave the selection a high mark here because of the guest taps: Three Floyds, Lindemann's, some Upland, and Old Rasputin (on tap!). Their own beers...meh. IPA has an artificial sweetness that may suggest extract, but the lager is pretty good with quite a hoppy finish. I thought it was unusual for a brand new brewpub to serve a lager and all the time-logistics this represents. Apparently their Imperial Stout is coming along soon.

Did not try the food, but it did not look very good: some store bought chips and plastic cup salsa. Not impressive.

I'm hoping this place comes along because it's a welcome addition. A brewpub in Whiting has an interesting advantage that probably ZERO brewpubs in the rest of the country have: Due to the proximity to the refinery, you could fart and no one would know the difference. (I kid of course...)

I have been in more than once waiting for the beer to be brewed. Every time I go in, they tell me a couple of weeks. The two times I went in the service was VERY SLOW. 45 minutes to an hour for a sandwich when the place is dead is crazy. The food was good though. All they have now are soups and sandwiches as the kitchen is still 2 weeks from being done. At least that is what they said in October when I was in.

The waitress was not impressive. When asked about dessert, her comment was "It is one of those frozen cakes from Sysco." Yum. When asked about the beer on tap (not theirs of course), she had no idea what they tasted like and did not offer a sample. One of the people with us ordered a special order and it came out wrong. The waitress put it in front of her like nothing happened and when she questioned the waitress the girl replied "Oh yeah they made it wrong. You want another?" Yes lets wait another hour to get it right..

The drink prices seemed steep as one of the party bought a $5 Magners that was all ice and very little Magners.

I am not holding my breath. It seems like just another place that thinks we are dumb enough to keep coming in.

This place is still in "soft opening" mode, as with all new places, it takes time to work out the kinks. Official grand opening is November 26th, 2011. Can't really judge a place before they're fully up and running, so take current reviews with a huge grain of salt. Not sure why some would want to smear a new brewery before they're even started up yet, unless they're local competition or just clueless.

Visited Bulldog a couple weeks ago, before I knew they weren't brewing on site yet, (they were still waiting for their state license). Good news is that they are now brewing their first batches.

Located on the small town Main St. in Whiting (home of PierogiFest), Bulldog is a welcome addition, as there aren't many beer places around. A guy at the bar told me some of the other bars in town were seedy and attracted a bad element. He hoped this place would bring a better crowd, which is what the area sorely needs.

Inside the place was still a bit spartan in decor, but there was a good sized dining room on the right, with a bar on the left. Brew kettles fully visible in the front windows. Exposed brick and hefty wood beams above. At the bar there was a tv in the corner, and a chalkboard on the back wall with the beer selection. The bar had seats for about 15 or so.

Taps were all guest taps, but there was a good range of beers on: Dreadnaught, Sofie, Crown Blueberry Wheat, Southern Tier Harvest, Upland Wheat, Blanche De Bruxelles, Fireside Nut Brown. Seven taps running, I believe there were 10-12 total. Bottles were a handful of mostly macro bottles with a few FFF basics. Their planned range of house beers are detailed on their website, and the staff mentioned they will rotate in seasonals once they get their brewing schedule established.

Kitchen is up and running with a full menu.

Promising new place, hope to try again when in the NWI area. Not too far from FFF and Crown if passing through.
