From the label:
This dark ales uses five different malts and three hop additions to give a strong bitter beer to savour. Inspired by a beer brewed in Edinburgh in the 18th and 19th Century to a secret recipe. Familiarity known as Black Cork, it was mentioned in Deacon Brodie's trial. Perhaps it was ultimately his undoing.
Very dark roaty nose. Black black chocolate. Very tantalising. Medium tight tan head.Looks like a stout with some very lively orangy brown red lines at the bottom of the glass.
Light to medium bodied the dark roast chatacteristic dominates.
Not overly complex but has a flavour which is very long.
Black Cork, eh? I wonder if two or three hundred years ago that was code for 'oxidised'?
