Mahogany brown with a golden edge in the standard pint glass. Not much head, as you'd expect of the style. Warm and nutty, with a richness that is very pleasant.
Hoppy earthiness shades into a slightly bitter aftertaste. Malty flavors but a thin body. A hint of pecans. Nice nose of roast malt. Fairly flat in the mouth. Overall it's very smooth and made a great afternoon quaff on the deck. Quite flavorful for a lower-alcohol beer, and seems to make a good try for the authentic English style.
