Grateful Red is the cask version of BJ's Jeremiah Red which has been ultra-hopped with German Traditional and Horizon hops. The beer arrived in a Libby straight-side pint glass with a hazy orange-gold cellar temperature body with a ½ finger of light tan foam.
Despite the dry-hopping, malts rule the nose with an earthy, nutty aroma. The taste is sweet malt upon entry followed by a low-profile mid-taste of cereal and yeast. The finish brings the hops to the forefront with a pronounced floral bite followed with a beautifully dry close.
This would be an excellent choice with lighter meats such as a glazed pork loin.
