Brewed in Southern California for the Texas market, the Laguna Hills location received a few kegs of this newer offering for the Holiday Season.
The Libby straight-side pint arrived with a beautiful copper colored body with a sandy white collar of foam. The aroma is a beautifully bright roasted malt with a hint of yeast in the background for support.
The initial taste opens with a surprising understatement of malt which drops futher into a neutral mid-taste...but this is where the fun begins. The finish may be likened to being launched off a sweet cereal ramp with a growing crescendo of roasted malt which builds toward a finish which slowly fades into grainy sweetness.
While the mouthfeel may be a tad thin for the heartiest of craft drinkers, this offering would be well served as a compliment to a BBQ sandwich or a rack of baby-back ribs.
