The “amber red” pours dark coffee color with fluffy khaki fading foamy head from tall pint BJ’s beer club can to pint glass. This German “Düsseldorf-Style” amber ale with rich nutty malt laced with spicy bitter hop bite. Sort of looks and tastes like a spiced Coke.

The beer sits a clear red color in the pint glass and is topped by a wispy, thin, pale tan colored head. The aroma is fruity and light with notes of cherry and a light dusting of malt character. The beer is sweet up front and slightly spicy through to the finish. Unfortunately the beer has been served way to cold (why do even brewpubs do this), which really thins the beer out. The beer is well carbonated, perhaps a bit gassy even. As it warms up a bit of fruitiness comes to the fore with notes of cherry. There is a nice bitterness that carries through from beginning to end. A fruity herbal note is here from the hops, a definite characteristic of a good Alt. This is actually a decent example of the style. It is clean and crisp, yet still fruity with a hop presence.

This arrived wearing a slightly red shade of light brown, with a small head that didn't last very long. There isn't any lace being left behind.
This beer has a good mix of flavor to it. It's somewhat grainy and has hints of caramel. The hops are pretty subdued. The mouthfeel is nice and medium, while overall the beer is an easy drinker.
I've had a lot of bad alts, and thankfully this was not one of them.

Pours medium copper with outstanding clarity and a stark white collar of foam which is resupplied by a constant stream of carbonation. Nose is subtle and maltywith a zesty yeast note.
Carbonation bathes the tongue upon entry, stripping the appendage in prepatation for the bright, malty tonguebath that dominates the midtaste. Finish is a long malt fade that accentuates the full and chewy mouthfeel.
Pair this up with any of BJ's pizza's for a truly outstanding taste experience.
