August 2006. This beer is definitely not retired, merely an occasional brew. This time coming in at 8% ABV.
Pours a beautiful unfiltered smokey orange with a monstrous head that slowly melts to very thick, very sticky lacing.
Aromas of sweet malt and lots of bread...fresh baked bread.
Taste is soft sweetness from the malt followed with a soft blending of orange flavors finishing nicely to very, VERY light hops. Just enough to keep it from becoming cloying..a nice drying that makes you want for another sip.
Aftertaste is a slight cross between tangerines and tangerine peel. Where is the alcohol? At 8% I should notice something in taste, aroma, or burn going down but I notice nothing. This is a very deceptive brew. Very deceptive and Very, Very nice.

This unfiltered brew pours with a transluscent dark-orange body capped by a full finger of tight, off-white foam boasting good retention. The nose is deeply malty with nice roastiness and caramel notes.

Entry is smooth with an immediate robust mouthfeel. Palate is well structured and dominated by a fresh worty presence and hints of toffee, all supported by ample carbonation.

The finish is well balanced by a light-handed crisp hop bite, quickly followed by a dark grain / sunflower seed fade which leaves a wonderous residual sweetness on the lips.

Pair this with comfort food like meatloaf or pot roast for maximum enjoyment.

Eric, the Laguna Hills Brewer, has definately hit his stride with this offering!
