Another review of beer from Strange Brew 2018. Hey does anyone wonder where these reviews go? It just says United States, there is no state designation?
Anyways, this pours a cold medicine dark red. Even has the slight viscosity of cold medicine too. Very small head, pinkish 1/5". Aroma is of cherries. Difficult to pin down a style here, has some earthiness of a flanders, but is less sour than a wild ale.
Taste, sour wise is about a 2.5/10. If you were looking for leather, moss, dirt and bark notes of a flanders, nope, they didn't make it. Its like a real mild sour note, but the viscosity really hits the mouth feel giving this a heavier feel. Alcohol is slightly noticeable (listed as 7.5% by the brewery but 8% at the festival). Seems slightly cut with sugar/lactose, has that mild sweet/sour counterbalance thing going for it if you're into that. It largely strikes me as an introductory level sour made for people who don't like sour beer, thereby likely to not be hated nor loved by anyone.
