Sweet pale malt perfectly balanced by the crisp snap of Saaz hops.

Tasted on tap at the BJ's in Beavercreek, OH.
Medium gold color and very clear. Thin white head. Faint aroma is mostly grassy/herbal hops. Soft body with slight malt sweetness and herbal hops bite in the finish. No flaws. This is a well-made pilsner, just not very exciting.

A Pilsner is next up for a review. I served the beer at 42 degrees in a Pilsner glass. The pour created this massive, dense, foamy three-fingered off-white head with impressive staying power. The slow dissipation left bits of lacing on the glass. Charting the color around SRM 4, it is pale straw with light golden hues. The clarity is clear, with a few lazy carbonation bubbles rising. The appearance of the beer is above average—a beautiful beer that glistens in the light, inviting you to take a sip. Its unique hue and inviting appearance are sure to pique your interest.
Nosing the glass, I immediately recognized those familiar Pilsner aromas. The hop aromas start with floral blossoms, white pepper, and a classic herbal note. The malt profile is crackers and lightly toasted malts. I also notice a mineral note, a soft, malty sweetness with a skosh of phenols. The beer's aromas are classic for this style, evoking a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the traditional Pilsner.
I was encouraged by the taste, but I discovered the beer's malt profile had taken over. The malts are crackers, bready, and sweet. The hops are not as intense, but I can taste white pepper, herbs, grass, and floral blossoms. Other flavors I noticed are phenolic (like bandaid), minerally, and a note of earthiness.
The mouthfeel of this Pilsner was a delight, with a soft and astringent texture that was both refreshing and satisfying. The beer finished crisp, leaving a pleasant aftertaste. The body was light, as expected for a Pilsner, and the carbonation was just right, adding a lively effervescence to each sip.
I am stumped; I don't know why I can taste a mineral component, maybe pushing toward limestone. The beers are brewed in soft water, making them refreshing. Although crisp, the finish could have been cleaner as a Czech pilsner. The beer's aromas were intense and aromatic, but the flavors were messy. The malt complex ran over the hop profile. The Pilsner is a pleasant sipper on a hot summer night.

Malty nose & taste with a subtle bitterness after the swallow. Will drink again.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of puffy white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell -The aroma of the brew is rather heavy of a bready and very grainy smell mixed with some aromas of hay and grass. Along with these smells comes a little bit of a herbal and earthy smell as well as some sweeter caramel and a touch of harvest fruit.
Taste – The taste begins as the nose let on. Right from the start there is a rather thick and chewy grainy and malty bread taste that is mixed with a light level of caramel malt sweetness. As the taste advances the malt remains very strong with other flavors of a light herbal hop and a earthy flavor developing over time. Toward the end the earthiness and some mustiness get quite a bit more potent, and with a touch of hay, one is left with a very grainy and malty, moderately earthy/dirty like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel -The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average. Overall, the feel is OK for the style and the flavor.
Overall – A rather grain and malt heavy pils with a bit of a more dirty/earthy taste. Overall decent, but nothing too outstanding.
