A Strange Brew 2018 beer. Its a hibiscus ipa. Let's see if its as bad in final form as it is on paper.
Pours a color that is the mixture of yellow and the pink hibiscus flower/concentrate(?). The aroma of this ipa is not hoppy, no, instead, this hibiscus ipa smells like hibiscus.
Taste wise, this ipa does not taste like hops, it tastes like hibiscus. The slight bitterness to it is definitely floral, about as much as any beer could be, as the primary, if not sole taste characteristic is hibiscus. Like I get it, save some hibiscus for the rest of us. The bitterness that is there is about all whatever the hop bill is provides. I guess I would describe it as the grapefruit rind kind of hop bitterness, but its coming off real floral, like the entire beer, because its a hibiscus bomb.
And that is how this beer is, if you're gonna like it, you must like hibiscus. I'm ok with it, but I don't want my entire drinking experience to taste like liquified hibiscus.
