LightSwitch® is BJ’s mildest beer. This is BJ’s alternative to mass-produced light beers that lack flavor. At just 103 calories per 12-oz serving, LightSwitch is comparable in calories to Bud, Miller and Coors Light. The difference is that LightSwitch® is an all-malt beer (no rice or corn) and it’s unpasteurized. We use German Hallertau hops for their pleasant aroma and to balance the mild malt flavor with a clean dry finish. The end result is a fresh and flavorful light beer with refreshing and smooth drinkability.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a clear light straw color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is light with a little bit of a grainy and caramel smell. Mixed with these smells comes a little bit of a light fruit smell. Overall light but nice.
Taste – The tastes begins with a light caramel and dry cracker taste mixed with a bit of a lightly toasted bread. These tastes are the predominate and least throughout, with them being joined at the end by a bit of herbal hop to leave one with a dry, but very lightly sweetened and crisp taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light and crisp with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the low abv and light crisp flavors the feel is great and makes for a refreshing drinker.
Overall – A decent light lager with a good level of flavor and an easy drinking feel.

Served on tap at the new Livonia. Dark yellow with a thin cap of foam. Clear, once the chill condensation is wiped off of the glass. Nice aroma of biscuit and bread, some floral/grass once it's allowed to warm up a bit. Flavor is quite full for a 3.5% light lager, with bready/biscuit malt upfront and a grassy/pepper pinch on the finish. Clean flavor. Good example of the style.
