This was a special brew that they had just taped @ BJ's an hour before we ordered it. We ordered a pitcher and when it came to the table a light dusty tan with a hint of orange. It had a nice frothy pale white head. It looked good.
There was a subtle smell that the hefe is known for: a floral fruitiness, bubblegum, citrus, also a tinge of tea smell. I'm not sure what the tea blend was all about. It was too busy to talk to the brewer(he must have been there, they were boiling behind the glass). There was a nice humble smell to this, but almost too humble. They were too muted for the style.
The taste was very, very smooth. If i hadn't been driving that night it might have spelled danger. This would have been a great beer for relaxing on the porch, or the patio of the restaurant. The mouth-feel was very complimentary to the taste. It was room temperature and very drinkable. The head stayed on till the pitcher was gone.
