Served on cask at Stone Escondido, March 2013.
Pours a murky dark chocolate brown color with a one finger off-white head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Splotchy lacing left behind.
Smells kind of like chocolate milk with silky milk chocolate and lactose along with subtle oak and vanilla bean. Coffee presence is faint with more of a sweet mocha/desert like character.
Medium bodied with subtle toasted oak integrated into the silky milk chocolate malt flavor. Vanilla bean soothes things out along with subtle espresso roast and lactose cream. The coffee presence is muted by all of the vanilla and chocolate alt sweetness. Also, the serving style makes it feel like a beer version of a mocha milkshake. Very smooth but might be too sweet/dessert like for some.
