Attractive golden-touched amber hue with plenty of off-white foam in the Duvel tulip. This has a really interesting, even unique grainy aroma. There is an unusual citrus note which seems to carry over into the flavor.
Warm a bready taste with something I would swear is rye. They call this an Oatmeal Pale Ale, so maybe there is some flavor from the oats. The hops, though, seem to be the key to all this flavor. So looking it up, this brewed with Nugget, Nelson, Motueka and Southern Cross hops.
The spicy-tangy flavor is quite appealing. The hops provide vast aromatics but a quite moderate bitterness. I keep thinking of candied citron. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Best Damn Beer Store in San Diego.
