Poured from 22oz into Spiegelau Stout Glass. No bottle or freshness date.

L: Black with ruby edges, two finger tan head that stays put well. Good lacing.

S: Coffee, chocolate, oats, little wood smoke, little sherry.

T: Coffee is most prominent here, good amount of chocolate and oatmeal as well. Wood smoke and sherry notes are hidden in the back.

F: Medium, good carbonation, semi-dry.

O: Pretty good.

Pours nearly black with a thin tan head that quickly disappears completely and leaves almost no lace. The smell is fairly one dimensional: coffee grounds. The taste follows with bitter black coffee and not much else. This beer would benefit from the addition of lactose or oatmeal, something to add sweetness and texture.
