On tap at O'Brien's

A: Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a thin off white head.

S: Some pretty big citrus notes as well as something that smells a bit like orange liquor.

T: Syrupy orange and citrus flavors with a touch of mango. Very drinkable for the ABV. This is probably my favorite offering from Latitude 33 so far.

On tap at Latitude 33 Brewing Company in Vista, CA.

Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and some tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with a malty finish and a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is super tasty and drinkable.

Consumed at the brewery July 28th, 2012.

Beer is cloudy orange-copper. Excellent sheeting comes from the fine, one-finger white head.

Very little smell from the full pint pour. Faint wheat aroma.

Flavor is strangely peppery and spicy, almost like rye. Soft, lightly metallic wheat flavor as well. Esthery, bordering on fusel. Significant alcohol presence. Big flavor with significant bitter finish.

Mouthfeel - smooth and creamy.

Easy to drink despite the significant alcohol and strong-ish flavor. Not sure I'd have another one, though.

On tap at Latitude 33. Snifter.

A: Sort of a ruddy orange color. Very cloudy. Enormous beige head with great retention and lacing.

S: Very hoppy nose, with accents of grass, guava, pineapple, mango, orange, and tangerine. Bready malt lays a firm foundation and provides balancing sweetness. Honeydew melon is apparent.

T: Bitter orange and grapefruit with grass, floral notes, and bready malt. An insistent moderate bitterness balances the sweet malt character. There's a little alcohol flavor but nothing to suggest 11%.

M: Upper medium body with creamy carbonation and a smooth, sticky mouthfeel. Ample alcohol warming.

Overall: Hoppier than you'd expect from a Wheatwine, but that's a good thing here. Recommended.
