On tap at Coney Island Brewery, Brooklyn, NY.
Pours a semi clear caramel brown color. A frothy head retains well.
The aroma is malt forward with notes of biscuit, caramel and dark toasted malts. There is also a touch of chocolate and dark fruit.
Doughy, biscuit and dark toasted malts dominate the palate. They are sweet but semi clean with notes of caramel, honey, chocolate and dark fruit. Paired with sweet alcohol spices and earthy hops, while a touch of bitterness adds balance. The finish is dry and semi crisp.
Full bodied but in a drinkable way. The mouthfeel is smooth, rich and chewy with a touch of lager crispness. The carbonation is moderate.
Nice example of the Doppelbock style. It has big flavors but is relatively easy to drink.
