Look: Black with hints of red, a finger of tawny foam that dies away in a couple of minutes
Smell: Smoke, cilantro
Taste: Oatmeal, smoke, slight nuttiness, dark chocolate
Feel: Lies flat on the bottom of your tongue, fills the mouth and tastebuds well, no play high in the mouth on the palate
I'd give it a respectable B, nothing wrong with this beer. I feel it could have been more though almost like it had the makings of a really good stout but an inextricable something was lost in translation. This beer was re-branded as Night Shift Stout, and now is simply called Oatmeal Stout.

Pours a nice head initially but doesn't last. Very opaque.
Smells of roast coffee beans and chocolate give it almost a mocha like scent.
Tastes just perfect on a cold night. The subtle bitterness pairs perfectly with chocolate notes and a slightly nutty finish.
Medium body with a hint of crisp.
Overall a solid stout, will be drinking again.

Opaque black, brown 1-2 finger head, lasting less than 5 minutes, basic lacing and average swirl reaction. Flavors of roasted grains, oatmeal, toffee, berries, light chocolate and coffee, with herbal hops. Moderately creamy and oily medium body with a soft crisp. Light to medium strength finish, mostly malty with a mild fruity feel, ending with some balanced leafy and earthy notes. Intensity is a bit overly accessible, feels basic though it's a notch more fresh than usual. Overall decent quality craft.

I had this from a standard 473 ml Canadian pint can. It was a fairly standard stout, with a hint of bitter coffee flavor -- certainly not overwhelming in that regard. Didn't really pick up the oatmeal, but I rarely do.

This is my first review so bare with me. I am still training my palette.
Poured into a snifter glass. Pours opaque black. Very small head (about 2cm) that did not last very long.
Smell is not very strong. Not much to describe, smells like a stout, roasty and caramelly. Alcohol scent is abscent. Smells very good but not too strong, hard to pick out the aromas in this one.
When you first taste it, it is very roasty but smooth. As it rests on your pallette, the chocolate and coffee flavours really explodes in your mouth (more chocolatly). You can taste the oatmeal, but if I didn't know it was brewed from oatmeal I likely wouldn't have noticed.
Finally it has a thin, slightly oily feel, though it has a great creamy after taste. You can taste the oatmeal more in the after taste as it lingers in your mouth, it reminds you that it is still beer and not chocolate.
Good tasting stout, I would buy again and recommend to at least try once. The flavour is there but the whole experience is not there in my opinion (look and smell).

Can - pours a deep dark black stout in the glass with a massive frothy tan head that reduces to a surface cap and laces the glass as it rides out the drink. Aromas of roasted chicory, licorice with mint and herbal undertones. Sturdy body with a rich creamy character and silken mouth feel. Flavor has the big roasty malts and torrefied oatmeal in the front to chew on as some side notes of hazel nut, mint, anise and burnt toffee - goes to a long wet finish with increased bittering and a light warming at the end. A very serviceable oatmeal stout- drinkable, satisfying and rounded.

Very disappointed with this stout. Out of the can, poured without head. I laughed and asked myself if it was Coke. Colour and carbonation was on par.
Have a second can. Hope it holds better results.

Dark Horse Stout from the Broadhead Brewing Company in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
473 ml can poured into glass. 5.5% alc. Canned March 17, 2017. Very light notes of brown bread and dark malt. I expected more dominant aroma on this. At any rate, the body is medium to full. I don't detect the creaminess you find in other stouts. The taste is dark brown bread and malt. The can says there are chocolate and cofee overtones but I can't detect them. This Stout is OK but I've had better. Still, I'm glad I tried it.

Pours dark brown. Foamy, medium, light brown head that lasts a little while.
Smells coffee, roast malt, light cocoa and hints of nutty and earthiness.
Tastes roast malt, light coffee, hints of chocolate and caramel. Finish is dry with a short roasted malt linger. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.
Being an oatmeal stout i expected more creaminess. Flavor was lighter to.

This beer surprised me because it's a lot more carbonated and a lot less creamy than other stouts I've tried. Not bad; I'd drink this again if someone offered it to me, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to buy it myself.

Pours a dark brown, almost black with an active 2 inch tan/light brown head which for the style dissipates quickly down to nothing & leaves virtually no lacing. Active carbonation visible after the head is gone which to me seems unusual for the style. Aroma is of dark malt, sour chocolate & coffee. Taste includes the same with some light caramel sweetness. Mostly malt with just hints of the other tastes. Mouthfeel is just moderately smooth for the style, a little light, not quite creamy like some other oatmeal stouts. I'm a big fan of oatmeal stouts so I enjoy this beer & would do so again but it's not something I will seek out over my favourites of the style.
