Poured this beer from a growler which I picked up on the same day as this review. Poured into a standard pint glass as about 40 degrees.

A - Beer pours a medium brown with a red hue, a half inch thick head is cream colour and dissipates quickly. A sparse lacing is left when the head is gone and a thin film of head is left on the top of the beer. The beer is hazy, but not unfiltered, just dark I believe.

S- The scent is that of earthy hops and dark malt, even though this is primarily a red ale, the IPA level hops addition is evident and provides a very nice bitter scent. The scent of caramel is evident but minimum.

T - The amount of hops flavor in the beer is a little overpowering, limiting the flavors of the malt come through. The alcohol content peeks through right at the end. The earthy grain flavor continues through from the scent and rounds out this beer.

M - This beer is very light on the tongue, going down very smooth even with the higher alcohol content. Little beer or flavor is left coating the mouth as you finish it, which is a very pleasant characteristic.

I would said that this is a good beer if you are an IPA and dark ale fan, I would say it is not something that I could drink more than a few of at once, which can be a good thing. Another job well done by Broadhead on this one, can't wait to try the next seasonal they put out.
