A pale ale brewed with hops grown in lexington valley vineyards and the brewers backyard. I'd really wanted to try this place out for a while and a local hop ale seemed to be the perfect beer to try first.
Poured from a one liter swing top bottle(unfortunately defective and was leaking pressure..so I had to drink it immediately when I got home or end up with flat beer)
This looks nice. Golden yellow with a touch of burnt orange. Nice cap of soapy like bubbles stick around and provide nice lacing.
The sniff knocks your head back a bit. It's hops, but it's also extremely metallic and extremely medicinal...extremely vegetal. Sneaks of fruits and floral hops come through but it's really hard to see through the harsh medicinal smell. This is dissapointing.
The taste is so unrelentingly vegetal, and chewing-on-asprin bitter it makes me wince.
The mouthfeel is thin with not enough carbonation..part of which is due to the bad growler..but I had it in the growler for all of an hour before I consumed it.
These were some nice people at Blue Lab. They were extremely friendly and talked to me for quite a while during my visit (and after I called them about the growler problem they offered to replace my faulty growler and give me a free growler fill). It gives me no pleasure to give them such a low score, but this was undrinkable. My girlfriend gave it less of a chance than I did. Her pint went down the drain almost immediately. I kept on forcing my way through it, really wanting to like it...but as it warmed it just got more painful and most of it just went down the drain.
