Kraftbräu's Doppelbock is one of the beers that I really do like by them. It's not an amazing example of the style, but it is one of the few beers that they make which isn't dominated by hops.

Pour on this is dark black with purple tones evident in the right light. Smell is lightly malted, but not intense.

The flavour is a fairly textbook Doppelbock, but done right. The flavour is mainly sweet malts, caramel and toffee aspects, and creamy. It's not as depthy as many other offerings in this family, but it's an identifiable representative of its style.

Mouth on this, decent. I personally prefer them to be thicker, but this really isn't bad in that department. Drinkability, definitely good. Doppelbocks are known for excelling in this category, and Kraftbräu's is no exception.

Overall: One of the better beers I've had at Kraftbräu. It's a fairly average representative of its style, but even a fairly average doppelbock is a tasty treat.

Appears a mahogany color with a small head that fades quickly.
Smell is of malty toffee with tons of sugary malt mixed sweetness and a slight sourness going on.
Taste is of the same aromas with a breadiness that seems very authentic to me.
Mouthfeel is smooth, bready, medium bodied, and pretty nicely done.

Appearance was classic to style, nice brown/red deep color.
Smell was underwhelming when I compare to my expectation for a Doppel.
Taste was a little bit on the sweet side, also left an aftertaste I wasn't expecting, can't quite finger it but not quite right.
Felt good in the mouth and alcohol was present.

Overall, I'd say decent beer that needs a little improvement to get into top category.

Holy crap! This was one horrible beer. No head or carbonation to speak of. That kind of thing doesn't work for this beer. Oily body with way too much alcohol precense. Every taste left me with a grimace on my face. A strong and not so good astringent taste. And it was actually quite thin for a doppel. It took everything I could muster not to pour it out. I think this is a startup brewery that just doesn't have their stuff working correctly as of now, I'll try it some other time.

This brew has a nice head of small to large bubbles that is light brown in color. It's body is a dark red-brown color. It has a typical Doppelbock taste mush like the other German Doppelbocks I have tasted before. It is a very fine example of an American brewing Company making a German beer.
