Muddy brown color. Definitely lighter in color than most stout. No notable head and no lace.
Think Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup—plenty of peanut butter naturally, with a sweet chocolate note. Not very stout-like.
Of the beers I’ve had at Border, this is the richest, meaning this leans thick. The carbonation is low. The flavor is a journey through many flavors, some unusual: it starts mildly sour, followed by milk chocolate. In the swallow, I get some berry fruit and then some white pepper bitterness. The aftertaste brings back a subtle sourness as combo with the peanut butter that permeates throughout.
Overall, don’t expect a stout when getting this beer. But the flavors are intriguing and worth a try.

Really well don't peanut butter stout. Tons of roast and chocolate on the nose and flavor. This is pretty easy drinking given that it is somewhat rich. Probably my favorite of their offerings at the moment.

On tap at the source.
Solid black color with a bubbly tan cap on top. Big chocolate and light brown sugary aroma and flavor with a subtle peanut buttery note. Light earthy hop to counter. Thick sweet interesting and quite flavorful, I'd have it again.

I was going to say the beers at Border were inconsistent, but that would imply either that some of them were good or that at least they had some good parts that were weighed down by off nodes. That would be untrue; the beers were very bad.
Which is a shame, because the place was cute and welcoming and the staff was very friendly. As a homebrew store, it's tip top. But the beers... good golly, the beers.
The PB stout poured gritty. Not just hazy, not with a little bit of yeasty particulate matter in it; it was like someone accidentally spilled sand into the wort.
It smelled strongly of erstaz peanut butter, like if the Jelly Belly made a PB&J Jellybean. Only not Jellybelly, because their beans tend to actually resemble the foodstuffs after which they are named. This is the crappy storebrand Jellybelly that poor parents buy for their shabbily dressed children.
Tastes very sweet. Not particularly offensive, but absolutely unbalanced and I haven't the slightest idea what they're going for. Sweet fake peanuts up front, very thick barley-ish middle, sweet peanuts in the back. Why? Just, why?
