i think they are calling this top bock now, unless this that is slightly different, but im assuming the same, someone let me know if that should be added separately if you know. its a fine bock, deep and dark and nice for spring time, a style we dont see a ton of anymore, especially from american brewers, and i was impressed with the overall execution. a little darker in the glass than many, past the red family of colors and thoroughly into the brown i reckon, airy tan head on it too. the nose here is sweet and long boiled to me, some concentrated grain character thats german through and through, hints on raisin, fig, toffee, and light smoke and tobacco, but its not heavy, just hearty, and if you dont know the difference, this is it. definite german malt layers here, at times almost schwarzbier-esque, at others more of a doppelbock richness, chestnut and raisin and old leather chair, a freshness to the lager yeast despite the beers patient maturity being also evident, smooth medium body, pleasantly soft carbonation, drier than it starts by a mile, some light roast later helping it conclude, very little on the hop side but not totally invisible on the swallow, clean and professional overall, really good. in some ways quite simple, but also very nuanced beer. they nailed this!

On tap at Humpy’s in Anchorage. This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice dark brown color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated within seconds. Barely any lacing lasted around the glass. The smell had a thick sweet bready to sweet milk chocolate. The taste was basically the same as the smell. Light sweet bready aftertaste lead to a sweet sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Smooth breadiness rolled over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good bock I could have again.

Nice Bock. Love what King street does. There selection of grains always seems to come threw on there beer. I love it. You can't mask cheap ingredients. They stay true to styles they brew. Enjoying a pint right now.
