The appearance was a semi-clear brown color with a semi-white to off white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Light lace. The aroma had a nice blend of toast, caramel/toffee malts, milk chocolate and ends with some bitter earthy hops. The flavor leaned towards the sweet side with the earthiness developing just a tad more in a semi-spicy sort of nature. Seemed to combine nicely in the aftertaste and ride on into the finish. The feel sat just a tad under medium bodied and had a pretty good sessionable sort of trait to it. Carbonation was fairly soft. Overall, nice tribute to Samuel Smith’s version. I’d have this again if I could get it.
