very light in many respects, a nice stout for summer, as the coffee has a drying effect, the roast isnt too dark on the grain or the beans it seems, and the alcohol and body are both pretty restrained here, nice to have a real drinkable beer in this style for this time of year. the coffee has just a bit of acid to it, which i dont mind in this instance, a nice nutty roast, and a hint of bakers chocolate to it. the dark grain resonates at a similar pitch, with some espresso character of its own, a more milky chocolate bit, and some light toffee sweetness in the middle of it, they go expertly well together. its not overly complex, its just light stout with coffee in it, but the proportions are good and the fermentation is quite clean. some may find this a little thin or the acidity of the coffee off putting, but i like it being as light as it is and dont mind the slightly sharp finish. the carbonation is good, it warms up well, and overall i thought this was pretty well done for being on the basic side of the spectrum.
