Let me start off by stating this is not a true porter. During the brewing process a batch of Standing Stones Scotch ale was oxidized. A mash of dark malts was added to the already fermented Scotch ale along with vanilla extract to create this beer.
A - Dark coffee brown with a tan 2 finger fizzy head. It fades very quickly and vanishes leaving no collar or lace on the glass.
S - Prominent vanilla notes along with the roasted malts. It does remind me a bit of what a scotch ale would smell like.
T - Rather malty, but not sweet. I pick up hints of the smokey scotch ale and it is very easy to know that vanilla extract was used to flavor. The flavor is good, yet simple and no flavor overpowers. I do not find any of the typical porter notes of coffee or cola in this beer.
M - It is thin with the same consistency of a scotch ale. It should have a richer creamier feel, but falls short. Carbonation is okay.
O - Interesting experiment, the taste was fine. It was easy to drink and only $5, but do not expect a porter if you buy it.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
