I was sifting through some remaining bottles (eeek!) to see what I had when I came across this one. Naturally, it required an approved pic, so I got to work & here we are.
From the Bottle: "Hard Handcrafted Root Beer Spiced Ale"; "Crafted to Reduce Gluten"; "Crafted + Bottled in Madera, California".
I Pop!ped the cap off of the bottle (oh!) & started a slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting glass since the label also read: "Made With Natural Ingredients [-] Settling May Occur" & I did not want to rouse any lees. I got a rolling finger of roiling, fizzy, deep-tan/light-brown head that quickly faded to wisps. Color was a Coppery-Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity, proving that my efforts paid off. Nose had the spiciness of root beer & I was definitely intrigued! Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin & watery, but when did root beer ever have body? The taste was highly evocative of root beer! 8=O I closed my eyes & drifted back to Long Beach Island, NJ on our annual family vacation as a kid, having lunch at the A&W. OMFG! My only bugaboo with it was that it needed more spiciness, given its style. Finish was semi-dry, surprising since spices were involved. I'd like to see this one CANned. YMMV.
