Brewed for and tried on tap at GABS festival in Melbourne, May 2014.
Pours a brown colour, bit of haze in there.Dense beige head that looks very nice and retains beautifully. Looks nice.
Smells quite spicy with lots of weizeny notes. Coriander, green peppercorns and some grassy edge. Touch of sweet spice and banana on the back. Big, complex, pretty pleasant.
Decent flavours as well. Vanilla malt upfront descending into spice melange of clove, coriander, cinnamon, and plenty of herbal notes to finish on. Touch of banana as well. Tastes like a thick heavy hefe.
Body is thick, as you'd expect, although alcohol is less pronounced perhaps than you'd expect. Warming and distinctly present, it's still fairly smooth. Body feels a little gluggy though.
Decent, but sort of feels more like a big hefe than really exploding with huge complexities like other weizen eisbocks I've tried. Doesn't feel more than the sum of its parts.
