500mL bottle from Beermasons. Beautiful looking bottle and packaging. Wonder about the beer?

Slow gusher. Once the situation is brought under control, it pours a deep orange body with a voluminous, airy off-white head that collapses with spotty lacing.

Nose is a mixture of sweet caramel malts, doughy yeast and cereal grain character. Very candied aspect to it, which attaches to some rockmelony hop character. Definitely sweet, although not at cloying levels.

Flavours start relatively similar before the malt backbone begins to fall apart, giving way to a muddled yeast character and slightly metallic green-tea bitterness.

Relatively syrupy for the style with moderately buzzy carbonation. Mild mid and rear palate bitterness.

Doesn't set my world alight but it's a decent enough English Pale Ale. Very lacking in assertiveness with respect to both hop and malt character, making it hard to get enthused over.

500ml bottle from Beermasons, into a Kent Old Brown dimpled handle.

Murky nutty brown colour with a touch of copper. Nice beige head of foam that leaves a wavy lacing before receding to spots on the glass.

Smells a bit like buttery caramel. Slightly intrusive. A little bit of nut and faint spice.

Tastes of watery caramel, backed with some hop spice and a touch of nut. Not really working that well together.

Mouthfeel is watery to start with before the spice builds to finish it off. Overall not too bad, but thin to start with.

Dull, odd and not enticing at all. I like English styles, but this doesn't do anything to rustle my jimmies.
