On tap at Congregation Ale House in Pasadena, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and thick mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a hop presence in the smell that I am not getting in the taste.
