16 oz. pint on-tap at the brewery
(July 13, 2017)
L: dark gold, almost copper with some amber in it; small head of white foam, no stick/lace, keeps very thin collar of white foam; clear
S: fruity grain, very faint berry aroma (strawberries, blackberries or raspberries) that grows as it warms; malt is adding sweetness
T: sweet fruity grain, cherries or raspberries way in the background, yeasty grain up front, a bit earthy but not bitter; almost spicy with clove; fruit gives it a slight tartness that cuts into the malt sweetness but isn't actually tart
F: soft and weighty, almost finishes flat until your palate adjusts a bit; carbonation is crisp up front
O: nice attempt to tweak a simple style; it arguably could use more fruit, but the authentic tradeoff is nice -- the brewer clearly didn't "cheat" by adding fruit syrup, for the fruit notes have a very real feel to them
