Lateral Haze, a tropical hazy IPA brewed in honor of the greatest game on earth - football. “With Lateral Haze, we set out to make the perfect companion for football season. A triple-option of sorts, Lateral Haze is triple dry-hopped with three different hops (Amarillo, Simcoe and Idaho-7) that come together to provide a beautifully tropical drinking experience,” said Deep Ellum Brewing Company’s Head Brewer, Brian Morris.

Look: slightly dark lemon yellow, pale yellow head
Smell: pineapple, apple, lemon pith, tropical fruit
Taste: pineapple, orange juice, lemon pith, seems like its about to get more bitter and then doesn't, hop lemon peel
Feel: medium body, medium carbonation, dry feel
Overall: I like it. I prefer more fruit forward juicy brews - this isn't quite that but it is quite pleasant

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The brew pours a moderately hazed golden amber color with a one finger head of pure-white foam. The head has a great level of retention, fading very slowly over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a bready malt aroma mixed with some tropical fruit smells and a bit of grapefruit hop. Along with these smells comes notes of hay and grass and a bit of apricot and peach.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and slightly doughy malt flavor mixed with some of the fruit (tropical and peach) that was detected in the nose. At the start there is a grapefruit and herbal hop taste, with the later growing stronger as the taste advances and the grapefruit growing weaker in intensity. At the same time some hay and a bit of lemongrass and a bit more fruitiness (apricot and grape) hit the tongue, leaving one with moderately hopped and decently fruity and malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average. Overall, the feel is decent and makes for an easy sipper overall.
Overall – A decent brew overall, but nothing all that fantastic. Worth a try at least.
