I found that this beer was the breweries coup de gras. It had that effect on my head at the end of a day of beer tasting, but it really seemed to blow everything else they did out of the water.
I didn't write down the ABV of the beer in my review, so I will avoid putting the incorrect number up there, but I do remember it being right around 10%. The drinkability, to me, was on the same scale as DFH's Olde School BW.
At first, this beer is a silky smooth almost-strong ale. The malty-booze kick is there, but aren't disguised by a huge over-hop barleywine feel. There is more at work here than meets the eye. I wonder if candied sugar or the like was used.
My review notes 'gorgeously balanced' but also 'cloaked and mysterious". I feel, 1,000 miles away, that I'd have to have another to get a fair gauge on this beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
