Gdańsk 27/7 2019. At the St. Dominic Fair where Brewer Koreb had a little stand. A somber Monk and a King on the label. They seem pretty preoccupied with being “Traditional”.
Pours light brown with small white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam. Looks more like Coca Cola than beer. Aroma is sweet and with Christmas spices. Cinnabon, hints of Ginger, brown sugar, Christmas cookies. Sweet berries like blackcurrant rummaging in the background.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is very sweet. Followed by a medium strong sour bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and stays with me for too long.
It might be “Traditional”. But so is public hangings, putting people in stocks and beheadings.
