Poured a cloudy, translucent pinkish orange body with a three finger reddish white head. A quite nice looking beer, appealing and unique. Scents of wild, funky, barnyard yeast, medium-light bright acidity, medium-light plum juice, light, indeterminate citrus, light oak, vanilla and fruity red wine, a light sugar cookie sweetness and a light grainy malt on the finish. There is a very light metallic aroma, but it does not massively detract from the otherwise pleasant aroma profile. Overall impression of aroma is of a rather nice sour saison, with the citrus and malt of that style mingling with the sour, wild funk. Not quite as balanced or spicy as Logsdon's Seizon Bretta, but quite nice. Flavor begins with medium-high sourness, with notes of lemon juice, grapefruit, wild, sour, yeasty funk, light plum and spiciness of an indeterminate sort. This moves into a middle with high sourness and a bitter, herbal, medicinal, oak flavor, similar to Stone's The Tiger Cub, but better executed. Finish is dry and highly sour with notes of lemon juice, further oaky bitterness, light plum and sour red berry in the very background. Aftertaste is dry with high sourness, a moderate level of grainy malt and a slight oak. Overall impression of flavor is of a nicely sour, oaky, herbal and fruity sour saison. It leans most towards sour, but has enough complexity to be intriguing and pleasant. It feels like what Stone's The Tiger Cub was attempting, but it lacks the horrid off-flavors and aromas which makes it far, far better. Quite nice. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied, with medium carbonation and a drying, puckering feel with medium-light acidity. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a nice sour that is refreshingly acidic and light, but with enough body to avoid being watery. Very nice. Overall this is a nice sour saison. It has a complexity and brightness to its flavor and aroma profiles that is pleasant, refreshing and quite nice. This is complemented by a nice mouthfeel that aids the drinkability of the beer. A very nice sour saison.
