Growler picked up at Libation Station in Johnson City TN during Christmas break
Pours with a short bubbly head over a dark cola colored body ... No lacing, but it could be the mason jar I poured it into
Aromas are really cool, and hard to put my finger on. Soft mintiness, lots of herbalness, light chocolate sweetness, some piney hops.
Flavor tastes like a mint cola, if such a thing existed. Touch of sappy sweetness. Mouthfeel is somewhat sharp from the hops, but finishes with some syrup coating. Finish has some bitter leaf.
A really interesting beer - tons of originality, which I love.

A- Poured in a taster. Finger width off-white head. Some slight lacing. Walnut color.
S- Strong caramel scents, warm malts and toffee.
T- Hop heavy, spicy and hop forward. Bitter finish.
M- Medium bodied and dry. Tough to drink.
O- Big ups and big downs. Ultimately pretty good.

A: Pours a real dark ruddy brownish color that still has some good clarity and a definite crimson hue to it. Nice thick and creamy finger of dark tan head. Spider-webbed lacing down the glass.
S: No real noticeable aromas here which is quite strange to me. I can pick up some slight carmelized malt notes as the beer warms but that is about it. The whaffs of fresh mash from the brewery overpower anything in my glass.
T: Tastes of toast, carmelized malts, some light chocolate, dried fruits(raisin) and spice. Hoppier than expected for a WW. Picking up some citrus and pine even. Trace amounts of alcohol flavs. This is nice.
M: Mouthfeel is a delight rather. Very creamy in texture. Gives a nice soft, light, frothy feel. Medium body. Not thick and heavy like some of the bigger WW's can be. Finishes a touch on the wetter side.
D: This is quite sessionable for a WW and not quite true to the style. Has the signature toasty carmelized malt and spice character but with some nice hoppy additions and a much lighter mouthfeel.
Enjoyable.

On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.
Pours a clear crimson brown with a 1 inch foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap. Thin foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, grapefruit, and some slight onion aromas. Taste is the same with noticeable herbal/onion hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good strong ale but the herbal/onion hops are quite apparent and not my favorite thing to find in beers.

Rich, dark amber in color with thin head around the rim of the glass. I had many samplers at GF (this being one of them) and all of them appeared to have little head. Rich caramel, chocolate, funky, piny, outdoorsy hops aroma. Rich, thick chocolate mixed with woodsy hops. Well balanced. Feels a bit thick, mostly balanced wet finish.
A decent attempt at a dark amber ale, this ultimately boils down to an average brew. I really enjoy the woodsy character to it, which really carries it into the winter warmer category. I'd try it again on tap, but wouldn't buy it in a bottle.

On tap at Green Flash. Described as a Winter Warmer but in reality it's a hoppy reddish ale.
A: Reddish brown with a beige head.
S: Caramel malt accompanies light bready notes and a bold hop profile. Pine resin is prominent, and it blends with grapefruit flesh and rind.
T: Lightly bready with pronounced caramel. Hops are aggressive, imparting pine and grapefruit. The beer is moderately bitter and the alcohol is well hidden.
M: Medium in body with upper medium carbonation.
Overall: Not really a Winter Warmer, more like a hoppy red ale, but enjoyable nonetheless.
