The perfect supping beer. Our first brew and still a favourite tipple. Tempting hop aroma with fruit notes. Good malt feel in the mouth dry, tangy fruit finish. Delicious, easy drinking slightly tart pale bitter. Razorback is brewed to the same recipe as the famous Ringwood Best Bitter, which has been revered for its quality since 1978.
With an ideal balance of hoppy happiness and citrus fruit, our classic Razorback is plenty refreshing to hit the spot. An easy drinking thirst quenching bitter that’s perfect for all occasions.

April 2015: Cask pint at the Sand Martin, Cardiff. Copper colour, lasting moderate head, slightly off-white. Moderate malty aroma, hints of toffee. Very smooth mouthfeel and flavour, moderately malty but not sweet, a slight fruitiness makes it very drinkable. Decent hops in the aftertaste.

Pretty cheap bottle from Asda. Chestnut colour with head which thins pretty quickly to a little mottling on top and a ring around the glass. Nose is malty with a hint of tobacco. Definitely on the malty side for a bitter with hops merely making for a somewhat spicy finish. Feel is less thin than anticipated for a relatively low abv bitter (3.6% rather than the 3.9%). Better than I was expecting.

L: Brown, as if a strong ale
S: Nondescript, hint of toilet
T: Tasteless, weak, flat and mediocre. Like larger that has been left sitting in a beer garden on a hot summer's day – and been there since 1973.
F: No body whatsoever. Trying to cop a feel of the Razor Back is like scrambling around in a pitch black room, desperately trying to find a light switch.
O: Forget it. Leave it on the shelf.

Amber colour, slightly hazy, small head which disappeared quickly, left some lacing. S: Hints of meat and rubber, a bit unusual. T: Malty, bitter, tasted stronger than the low abv. M: Fairly thick texture, low carbonation. O: A standard session bitter, probably too bitter too be drunk in vast quantities.

L- Pale chestnut brown, clear, pours with 3mm white head, clears to lacing.
S- Mild, just a slight toastiness to it.
T- Yep, authentic English bitter style hoppy dry front, into somewhat toasty finish.
F- It is refreshing, but it does feel pretty thin. Highly carbonated in the mouth, in fact a bit too much for an ale.
O- The lable describes this as an Amber Craft Ale, but I think English Bitter is probably closer. I can see this one for someone taking it easy, driving later, or on a hot summers day when something light and refreshing is wanted. Arguably less enticing in the middle of winter.
Bought in a box of 6 'Classic Ales' from Waitrose. BB 31/10/19
