I dunno if I've ever had a Chipotle ipa before. Had this summer 2016.
Pours a light amber-copper color, makes one of the better head formations on a chili beer, much less a hoppy one. 1/2" off white head. The aroma was mostly a light grapefruit meets smoky pepper aroma. They seemed to be balanced/in tandem with each other.
Taste reveals a good deft hand with everything about the beer. It might be a little maltier than desired, but given that the heat level is just right, who knows, perhaps that higher malt body makes a better peppery ipa instead of leaning on just being hot. Cascade is the right hop here, works nice, the brisk bitterness and citric acidity pairs well with the smokiness and light caramel body. Its not the type of thing that you're going to knock back an entire six pack, but its a fun beer to split with someone else, especially if you're hanging out for the day running through a gauntlet of all kinds of beer styles.
