This beer is really not bad at all for being the cheapest beer (30pk) in kansas and isn't like other beers that taste watered down!

Rhinelander Brewing Co. "Braumeister"
12 fl. oz. can without freshness dating
$1.83 @ Javies Beverage, Philadelphia, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Interesting retro-looking label. I wonder if this is a brand that they've revived. It pours a fingerprint-through-the-glass clear straw gold beneath a short-lived head of bubbly bright white. No lacing was left behind from where the head began to where it dropped, and now it's just a thin collar. The nose expresses adjunct malt with a background smear of leafy/grassy hops. It reminds me of Cluster hops, but I'm probably just imagining that as no one uses those anymore. It definitely has the smell of a 1970's lager though. The flavor is better, there's a little more malt to it than I thought there'd be, but at the same time the hops remain extremely limited. What's the alcohol on this? 4.2% ABV, well that makes sense. It's almost a light beer without being a light beer. If the price point were right the college kids around here would go crazy for it, although they tend to be going for Natty Daddy which is 8% ABV so it'd have to be really cheap. And with that in mind, there is a kind of high-gravity, hot and quick fermentation characteristic to it which is not good - there are much better bargain beers out there on the market. Light in body and gently crisp with a slightly less than standard carbonation level. This is what I call "fishin' beer", the kind of cheap beer that you drink while you're out fishing and you drink it ice-cold from the cooler one after another because you're just bored waiting for something to happen.
