As with all the Minhas brews i've tried to date, expectations are in the sub-basement
A - clear golden, two fingers of head fizzled a lot but retained decently with lots of rising carbonation, no lacing to speak of
S - as with many of their beers there is a pronounced adjunct aroma, some banana yeasty aroma tries to cut through
T - grainy maltiness with mild fruity yeast, adjunct flavour is there but not as much as the nose suggests, bit of minerally finish, all in all its not bad tasting but its way too tame
M - light with somewhat creamy carbonation, light breadiness lingers on the palate
O - its one of the best from their Bad Hare series .... but that's just another way of saying its an average brew

650ml bottle, $3.99 a pop at yer less than discriminating Albertan booze purveyors. The first offering from Rhinelander's craptacularly un-subtle 'Bad Hare' series that isn't a rename/reissue of their Thumper series from last year.
This beer pours a cloudy, weirdly bright medium golden colour, with one finger of deflated-seeming, puffy dirty white head, which bleeds away rather hastily, leaving zilch in the way of lace around the glass.
It smells of overripe mushy banana (my wife caught that from 5 feet away), some sugary, faintly grainy wheat malt, and a musty weediness, that does well to hide its origins in the inherent Minhas house aroma. The taste is semi-sweet wheat grain cereal, muddled banana flesh and weak hints of clove, with a very soft weedy, earthy hoppiness. A tiny echo of muted skankiness eventually wells up, just to provide me with a semblance of sanity as unsettling revelations burble inside me.
The bubbles are very understated, but still present enough to deter any perceptions of flatness, the body on the light side of medium weight, but not too much so, and generally pretty smooth. It finishes off-dry, the sweetness of the wheat still pretty tame, the spices disappearing entirely, replaced in their minor role by an equally mild version of that musty, spoiled fruit house essence.
Shiiit. Somehow, I've consumed my first entire bomber of Minhas product. To be fair, this is actually inoffensive, for the most part, with a beginner's wheat malt profile, and little else to mess it up. I hate to say it, but given the price, lots more people will get an introduction into this style, and hopefully be inclined to trade up. Minhas as gateway beer - there's a scary thought - boo!
