i was really surprised by this one, first, surprised to see them mess with one of their classics, arguably the best brown ale in the state for my money, and then surprised how intense the ginger element is in it, and finally surprised by how well it actually works and how much i like it, a really yummy and different pint of beer for the holiday season! an amber shade through the brown and a really pretty head on it, thick almost nitro looking. aroma is spicy ginger, the real thing, really robust in here, but well ahead of any gingerbread spices or anything like that in the flavor, really bold, natural, and i am amazed how well it goes with the base brown ale, which is dry cocoa and hazelnut and simple but distinctive, the spice of the ginger gives it a holiday feel, and it does have a baked vibe to it, even without being overly spiced. in fact, because this part isnt overdone, i think it actually transcends the holiday season, i would totally drink this year round. not sure i have had a ginger brown before, but this is an awesome recipe and the ginger is amazing in it. i love how fresh, natural, and spicy it is! expertly done, an early favorite for the holidays!
