Great beers! Love their PA and Black IPA (seasonal). Good food. Pool tables and darts!
Bar could use a remodel. It's in an old strip mall.

The restaurant smells like carpet cleaner and ruins the taste and experience of the facility. It's been the same for the last 4 years.

This beer is amazing, and it just keeps getting better. In a run down strip mall, Ironworks is the anchor brewery. It has a biker bar dive feel and an older crowd. The brewer often gets rare and unique hops and experiments with them. Just has a imperial IPA brewed with only galaxy hops. How a roughly 500 bbl a year brewery (I'm guessing) got those hops, I haven't a clue, but someone is working hard to find these things.

A few years ago they were terrible and I was sure they weren't going to last. They really turned things around.

Looks like they are remodeling the inside so it wont have such a dive feel here soon.

Great beer. A few standbys, and constantly rotating seasonals. The brewmaster isn't afraid to experiment, but the serving staff keeps him from getting too weird with the flavors, if you know what I mean. Relaxed atmosphere, pool tables (if that's your thing), and even a hop garden patio out back.

The food selection is slim ('pub food'), but the smothered chicken burrito is a great bargain, and the ironworks pizza is worth a try.

I go here every Friday evening; it's my wife and my weekly 'date night.'

In a strip mall next to a church just off Alameda and Union.

I have mixed thoughts about this place. Upon entering you can tell this is a bar first and foremost. A full bar, complete with well drinks and Cers and Buud taps, which is odd considering they brew their own beer. And that's the oddity: on-site brewery but sells BMC. Not sure if I've seen that before.
As such, it brings in a diverse crowd, which I love. There was a birthday party going on the corner for non beer-geek--you won't see that at local craft breweries that I know of. My first impression was that their beer wasn't going to be all that great. More later...

Two other things you find at many (if any) local breweries: pinball and pool tables. Hell. Yeah. I can down some beer whilst playing pool and pinball. This ups the atmosphere tick.

Food is just above bar food. It isn't the draw, but it isn't expensive either. I'd call it cheap, and that's the draw.

Ok, now to the beer. Above solid. The amber had diacetyl on it, but the Green Mtn pale was really good. Didn't try the others, but I'd imagine they are above average. I mean...pool and pinball...with craft beer!

Ironworks brew pub "was" a place with shady criminals who need to shower more, and very very bad beer. Which is why I was surprised to find out that they now have excellent beer and a much better croud of people.

I am fairly hard on judging beer. Nine out of ten beers from this place were an absolute pleasure to drink. The one that stood out as worse was still satisfyingly drinkable.
They all had some flair to make them stand out from the boring text book definitions of the beer.

The place is a lot like a biker bar with broken down pool tables and old tables. Personally, I really like it.

I found out that someone bought the place and is now trying to build a reputation as a good microbrewery. Good job.

thought id check this out on my way home from a job out in lakewood. its a rather dingy sports bar generic type of place, lots of pool tables and surprisingly guys drinking coors light at the bar. not the coolest place in the world, and definitely not feeling too much like a brewery taproom, more of a sports dive with a brewing operation, but about eight beers were on tap and the three i had were all pretty good, the oktoberfest being great and the definite highlight among them. the service was very friendly too, lots of free smaples, and the prices were fair. it cost me ten bucks to fill a growler there. there were some interesting beers on too, an agave wheat, a hoppy strong red ale, and a stout that looked awful dark. overall not a place id really go hang out, but the beers are worth a try and a stop in if you are in lakewood, although the brewery scene around them here is springing up pretty quick, and it seems like these guys are from an already bygone era of craft beer in the state...

A couple friends and I decided to waste a Saturday afternoon checking this place out and it was worth the trip. They have several pool tables and a decent variety of beers including: IPA, Wee Heavy, Irish Stout, and an Agave Wheat. The service was good and friendly. The food was standard bar fare but still tasty. The IPA was the real winner at this place. I'd get growler fills regularly if I lived closer. I think the pint prices were around $4 and the growlers were $11 or $10. I would definitely buy the IPA if it were canned or bottled, nice stuff.

Ironworks is a pretty grimey bar located in a strip mall off the Alameda Parkway, in the Denver suburb of Lakeside. The interior is dimly lit and sparsely decorated: lots of small tables occupy the middle of the main room; there's a performance space for bands in one of the corners, and the back corner has a couple of pool tables. I can't recall any other decorations. Had I not needed to charge my cell phone I would have been so turned off by the ambience of this place that I would have left immediately. As it was, I sneaked into a corner, charged my phone and tried one of their beers.

Service at the bar was friendly, and I chose to try a pint of the passable "Pomegranite Blueberry Amber Wheat." They also had an ESB, alt, pale wheat, light, and double pale on tap. The highlight of this otherwise uninteresting place was its eclectic selection of beer styles. Nonetheless, that alone won't be enough to ever draw me back. Not recommended.
