Served on draught at Hops and Grain's taproom. Brief notes on a phone, so bear with me.
A: off-white head recedes inside 30 seconds, leaving no lacing.
Body is way off for a Pilsner, with a strange haziness suggestive of a lack of filtration. Poor clarity. Not a clean looking Pilsner, and I worry about carbonation. At least it's yellow in colour.
Sm: Pilsner malts are subsidiary, and instead the emphasis is on its blatant overhopping...floral notes and grassiness. Way off style, but seemingly balanced.
Aromatic intensity is average.
T: Lemon, bitter floral hop character, Pilsner malts. Why there's noticeable hop bitterness in a Pilsner is beyond me, but in fairness it's still balanced by the pils malt sweetness. Subpar depth of flavour. Average flavour duration and intensity.
Mf: Over carbonated. Some might find it Unrefreshing - a crime in a Pilsner. Smooth, wet, and overly full-bodied. Not the light refreshing beer it ought to be.
O: Off style and overhopped. A classic example of an American brewery trying to fix what isn't broken. Drinkable albeit forgettable, and not a brew I'd bother with again. Typical Hops and Grain mediocrity.
