i love the name! the beer is really good too of course, seems these guys are doing all kinds of hazy hoppy stuff these days, and this is a good one, pretty classic in a lot of ways on the hop profile, a C varietal complexion, high alpha but used more in a dry hoppy way than in their more conventional oily west coast bitter manner, which i think gives new life to hops like cascade and centennial. this one has a bit of a darker shade to it, still pale, but more orange than yellow or straw colored, and with a thick almost nitro looking white head on it. smells like fresh milled lumber and spruce, with a bright fresh essential oily complexion, some bitter grapefruit peel notes, as well as a radiant freshness, but it drinks heavy to me, sturdy in the grain but also just rich and dense with hops, and with this higher abv, its a big glass of beer no doubt. i like the woodiness from the hops, its woody and woodsy to me, but there are some softer, more relaxed fruit notes here too, orange and even pineapple, its a great mix of hops, and for the aroma and flavor to be lined up so well in a hazy one like this is uncommon. heavy but tasty, fresh and piney, well named and delicious. i liked all the hoppy beer we had at hops and grain!
