Appearance - Served on draft in a pint glass, the beer poured a light black color with a cracker white head. Carbonation was visible amid the blackness.
Smell - The nose was slightly smoky and roasty. Overall, the grains were allowed to shine.
Taste - at the front, was a light smoky profile with notes of chocolate and a black licorice. As goes with the style, there was little bitterness such as coffee or hops. There was a smooth creaminess that became more evident at the end.
Mouthfeel - Despite being a lager, the beer was full bodied and very smooth with little bubbles of carbonation.
Overall - This is not the style I usually seek in beer. This offering was bold and very well done.
