I had the Cole Porter as part of a flight of 9 beers from the Titletown Brewery in Green Bay, Wisconsin. All the beers here were available on tap only.
The beer poured a jet black color but only made a 1 finger tan head and left behind only a minimal amount of lacing.
The smell was nice - roasted malts, a touch of chocolate, and root beer.
With those smells I expected a really sweet beer and this did not disappoint. It certainly was on the sweet side, but in addition to the root beer, malt, and chocolate sweetness, the beer was also sufficiently loaded with mildly bitter hops that helped balance it out nicely and kept it from being a syrupy mess. It was delicious.
Sweet and full bidied mouthfeel, but the high carbonation was an excellent choice for this beer as it further cut into the sweetness, making this very refreshing and highly drinkable. One of the few stouts I actually liked drinking really cold as opposed to letting it warm up a bit. I think this was the best beer they had in the entire flight.
