This is one fantastic weizenbock...not as complex or well rounded as Aventinus but a standout none the less...it is supposed to be 10.2% and after kicking back a growler in one night last year I can attest to the fact that it is that strong...But as I sit here sipping on this I have a hard time tasting any alcohol...what I do taste is a very strong sweet, ripe banana flavor...vanilla, and some real subtle cloves...the sweetness dominates the hell out of this....creamy mouthfeel..carbonation seems low but it's from a growler so tought to say...sticky sweet in the mouth....some might find this too sweet...I find it spectacular...

This is kind of a beer that contradicts itself...it is soo sweet and tadty and sticky...but still sooo easy to consume and continue to drink...it is sooo high in alcohol, but sooo little alcohol is present in the taste (a slight alcohol aroma is evident on the nose)..

This is one of my personal favorites...I'm not sure everyone would fall in love with this beer, but I can tell you this is a solid weizenbock and most would recognize that....a few would see it is special and I'm one of those....I love the seeetness, but also the easy drinking character of this beer...

1/2 gallon growler sample from brewpub.

This is one murky looking brew. Like the Bell's Batch 5000. Muddy, dirty brown in color. Creamy beige head sits on top and laces nicely. It recedes to an edging rather quickly. The aroma is primarily vanilla laced with cloves, banana, deep malt and alcohol. Very nice. The taste of this beer almost overwhelms the buds. Huge weizen characteristics. Spicy pepper, vanilla and banana. But also a deep rooted malt presence. The alcohol is stinging, much the same way a Brett Favre pass might be to your chest. The only thing I really dock here is drinkability because of the alcohol. For 10+ a/v though, it's not overwhelming. The mouthfeel is a bit syrupy and low on the carbonation. Fits for the style though. I'd love to be able to let this one sit for awhile, but I only have a growler of it. This is close to Aventinus and Pizza Port's Smokey the Rye in quality. This would be in my second tier of Weizenbocks along with Capital's. Very nice. I've heard a rumor that ZAP actually threw back a growler of this brew in one sitting.
