Had on tap. Opaque chestnut brown with surface lacing and lazy lacing on the glass. Toast, caramel, grainy spice, and nuts in the nose. Taste is a little more muddled version of the smell, more biscuit less toast, more malt less grains, still plenty of caramel and nuts. Finishes very clean, great crispness for style, yet lets the malts tell the story as it should. Great beer for a wisconsin spring day

 

 

 

 

Not what I expected from an alt. This one seemed a little more one dimensional and that dimension was wintergreen.

The aroma was almost not there.

The flavor was a real nice wintergreen, better than the gatorbeer at Legends in depere. Their gatorbeer was tasted watered down, this was a sweet syrupy wintergreen, though it ended on a clean bitter finish.

Part of the reason I might not of had my full sniffer could have been that I had their pizza fries with pepperoni did. The fries were good and garlicky while the dip was hot enough to flame my nose.

Still a good beer, like a yellow birch beer with a clean bitter finish and some alcohol to boot.

 

 

I tried this as part of a 9 beer flight at the Titletown Brewery in Green Bay, Wisconsin. While I didn't consider this their best offering, it is the brewery's choice as their signature beer. It's the one portrayed on all of the cardboard coasters and most of the posters inside the brewery and restaurant.

The beer poured a nice amber/red color, but only made a half finger of off-white head that lasted about 30 seconds. Despite the short head, it did leave a decent amount of lacing on the glass.

The smell was nice, but faint - just a trace of sweet malt.

The flavor was also mild and disappointing for an altbier. "Alts" should have big malty flavor and this one just didn't have it. What there is is nice - bisciuty, bready, and sweet with the hops playing a minor bittering role. It's OK, but not as malty as it should be.

Medium body and smooth mouthfeel.

Easy to drink and easy on the alcohol, so it's not hard to down a few of these, but if you're at the brewery make sure to try the "Tundranator" and "Dousman Street Wheat".

Draught @ Brewpub: This one poured a darker copper color. It was clear, with a small off-white head on it. It left no lacing. The aroma was good. There were notes of caramel malt, spiciness, and a hint of nuttiness. The taste was good also. It was dry, and slightly bitter. The flavors included a hint of smokiness, nuttiness and spiciness, to complement a decent malt body. Nice.

Really looks the part...Clean, deep rich amber...looks like a lager....Nice off white head....Nose is bready/biscuits.. and a little nutty...body is medium...rounded....smooth....brready biscuit like maltiness with low hopping...finishes with just enough spicy german style hops though....

Pretty true to style...perhaps a little sweeter and breadier than most but the lower hop feel becomes more pronounced on the finish..the hops definitely impart a dry finish....Nice effort from their new guy brewing...Might be worth revisting this one if you are in the area...I think it has improved..

I received this one with a nice, off-white head over a clear, medium amber colored beer. The nose was faintly hoppy with a nice presence of malt. The mouthfeel was medium with a malty, grainy sweetness on the tongue. The finish remained mostly sweet with a brilliant hoppy sharpness at the bitter (no pun intended) end. Very nice!

Lightly dusky, dark ruby-copper with a sporty beige froth.
Roast nut nose, traced with bitter, brittle herbs, but on the whole, the aroma is meager.
Begins with a dashing German maltiness, suggesting dark breads and assorted nuts, with a fleeting glimse of dark fruits. Asserts breadier through the middle, with a brief repreive as its lagered roots shine through. It concludes with a restatement of almond skins, and a flossing dead grass hop routine.
Moderate and fluid in the mouth. A thoroughly solid drinker. It's a bit mild of both malt and hops for something that is boasted as a sticke....it's actually on the mild side for even a regular alt, but, at the end of the day, it is solid and tasty. And that is what matters.

Ahhh.... the first Bier I've had the pleasure of drinking whilst actually in the great state of Wisconsin... Downed with some nachos at Titletown Brewing with my daughter, the munchkin, Colleen, last Friday night. Poured a clear, deep copper hue, with a frothy, light tan head. Topping lasts just a short spell and sticks well at the start, but vanishes rather quickly thereafter. Nose is understated, a caramelly and slightly floral offering.... but mild. Body is medium, and it has a decent smoothness tongue-wise. Flavor starts with more mild caramel; a subtly sweet malt start. It then has a slow fade to a mild floral hoppiness, yet without any lingering bitterness. Flavors could be more pronounced, for either maltiness, of the hops, or even both. Still a tasty offering. Not a killer Alt, which I don't think is the easiest of styles to brew, but smooth and easy-quaffing.
