Endless thank yous go out to sendsilk for this excessively generous extra in our most recent trade. Poured from a bomber into a tulip, the brew appears a clear pale yellow color with 2 fingers worth of white head. The cap retains with fantastic lasting power for the style and leaves a webby pattern of waves and spotting of lacing. Rising bubbles of carbonation maintain a thin film across the top throughout the entire duration.

The aroma immediately gives hints of a fruity sweetness with a bit of earthy quality. Chances are, I never would have guessed kiwi or cherry but considering the name of the brew, it is hard to displace that from thought. Throughout the nose is a lemony scent somewhat reminiscent of lemony sweet tart candy. Only towards the backend while the brew warms do I pick up on a milky sweet scent of coconut that blends very well with a fresh wheat grain scent. Swirling the brew emits some cheesy sulfur aspect as well as giving way to the first solid indication of cherry. While the nose is enjoyable and includes faint aspects of all the descriptors listed in the name, I can't help but think this is artificial.

The taste of this brew is perplexing. I drink more than half of my glass while sniffing and sipping without really grasping what is going on here. I cannot shake the idea from my head that this is more like a flavored mild/watered down cream ale with an added tartness moreso than a berliner weisse offering. It has a lasting sweetness that while it is fresh and grainy with a wheat to cereal aspect, it resides long into the aftertaste with a flavor not too far off from something almost like cream corn. Whereas the nose hints with all aspects of Kiwi, Cherry and Coconut, really only the coconut comes out to me in the flavor that mingles with the wheat character and mild tartness. Only once the brew gets beyond ideal temperature do I pick up on a faint indication of cherry and very, very mild kiwi flavoring. Despite the grainy quality and corn-like sweetness, the coconut is ever present with almost a cotton candy flavoring about it. (Here is where I strike up pause about this brew. Every other time I picked up on a cotton candy sort of back sweetened character, it has been admittedly from the inclusion of an artificial syrup.) This brew is enjoyable. However, I cannot shake the strange idea of artificial adjuncts being introduced here.

This is a light bodied brew with a moderate amount of carbonation. It is light, fizzy, refreshing and very easy drinking. I tip my hat with great respect to the creativity here. This is by far he most unique fruited take on a berliner that I have had to date. It is to be noted that the restraint used in the adjunct inclusion is to be commended since nothing here gets perfume-like and excessive. However, I firmly believe that artificial flavorings were added to this and for some reason I look down upon that. If I am wrong about that statement, I hope someone comes forward and corrects me. Regardless, this brew is worth a try if you get a chance.

Thanks to Sean for sharing this, as well as a number of other 7venth Sun offerings. Served in a Surly Darkness glass.

A - Looks the same as the Key Lime Ginger variant.

S - Intense cherry and coconut, and only a hint of kiwi and the base beer. Still - it's a delicious aroma.

T - The cherry dominates the taste, with less obvious coconut and mild kiwi. The yeast and wheat character of the base beer show up in the finish, providing a hint of tartness.

M - A touch less carbonation than the other two variants, but otherwise nearly identical.

D - The best of three Berliner variants from 7venth Sun. If they could amp up the tart and sour elements these would be world-class, but right now they're merely enjoyable and refreshing fruit beer.

On tap at 7venth Sun. Pours a nice golden color that doesn’t show much of what the fruit is going to be. Light fizzy white head falls pretty quickly. Nose is exceptional with plenty of fruit alongside a very solid berliner base. Impressive in that both the fruit and the berliner both stand out. The mixture of fruit is fantastic, and it’s the perfect amount. Dry and light with a bit of acidity. Supremely drinkable. Amazing.

Thanks, Paul! 32oz growler from the source.

A - Looks like the Midnight Moonlight base.

S - This one has it all in one...I'm amazing. The fruity notes are there for the Kiwi, the cherry is light, sweet, and tart, and the coconut hits you on the end. Granted, I wouldn't be able to blindly pick these out, but I knew they're there so I was looking for them.

T - Just. Wow. The cherry notes are the most upfront part of this beer, with the kiwi following after that and the coconut ever-so-slightly on the end. Very fruity, tart, and refreshing.

M - Light, good carbonation, dry finish.

O - An excellent BW from 7venth Sun. Out of the growlers that I was able to try, this was my "Home Run" of the day. I could drink this over and over again...super-tasty stuff. Recommend.

A big thanks goes out to beeruser for sharing this one. Served from growler into a Boulevard Smokestack tulip. Poured a pale yellow with a white half finger head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, cherry, kiwi, and coconut. The flavor was of sweet malt, kiwi, cherry, coconut, and medicinal. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly decent brew. I was really surprised to see this one come out at a recent tasting. The appearance on this one was quite nice if I am honest. However, the flavor and aroma were a little bit of a letdown. They were able to bring the kiwi, cherry, and coconut through in both the aroma and flavor, however, the flavor had a medicinal characteristic to it that was not overly enjoyable. Not the best I’ve had from the style, but definitely not the worse either. Worth trying to make your own judgement.
