375ml bottle dipped in blue wax that I purchased during a visit to the brewery back in July. It pours brown in color with a white head. Some spotty lace sticks to the glass as the cap fades.
The aroma is strong with a spicy scent of incense. It makes me quiver, reminding me of the smell of a catholic holy day mass. A little roast and fruity alcohol try and break up that raw woodiness so vivid in the aroma.
The flavor is spicy like the previously described incense character. Raw oak presentd a harshness to the palate instead of that smoothness found in used barrels. There is fruity alcohol with a dryness towards the finish with more of that tannic spiciness.
This is a medium to lighter bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. I think the base beer showed promise and was enjoyable but it got totally wrecked by the raw spiciness and harshness of the virgin barrel. This was an interesting offering but not something I would drink again unless I wanted flashbacks of Catholic mass.

A: poured a dark brown in color with a thin dark brown head that left very little lacing sticking to the glass.
S: very little going on in the aroma but was able to detect a little chocolate, some toffee, maybe a little nuttiness, and very muted roast.
T: the taste was pretty plain as well, just managed to get a little chocolate character, slight nuttiness and toffee, but thats about all she wrote.
M: the brew was light to medium in body with a moderate amount of carbonation which had sweet, nutty, mild chocolatey, and smooth finish.
O: Just another average porter with nothing too special but was very drinkable in that aspect.

Thanks Al.
Pours like a porter, minimal head and lace. Potent aroma with plenty of roasted malts and dry English yeast. Aroma's the best part of this one.
Taste is pretty bland. Dry and porter-y, not much else going on though. Really doesn't taste like much. Booze is hidden well. Easy drinking, but I was expecting more flavor.
